So this week was a complete bust. I spend the week in Perth and was all prepared to smash out my workouts and then what happened? I had a mole on my back that Marcus noticed was looking a little different, so I went to the Doctor. I went straight to the Doctor because I work on melanoma clinical trials and I know that melanoma is a bastard. I have an annual check up and keep an eye on my moles, but this was the first one that looked funny in about 10 years. So, out it came and I now have 2 stitches in my back that mean I couldn't do any weights, sprints or basically anything - so walking it was!
Don't forget, the Olive 5k race series for May is underway now - it's not too late to sign up if you missed it! Sign up here.
All I can do is walk, it is beautiful in Perth to walk by the river in the morning so I didn't think it would be too bad. Then it was - I thought I could handle the rain but Perth has downpours and I am ridiculously soft. I lasted 30 minutes, which is pretty good for me!
Thursday was better, the sun came out, the annoying swans were chirping (well, tooting or whatever that weird noise is that they make) and I got in a great evening walk around the bridges walk in Perth. It was meant to be 9km, but clearly it is a little further! It was a great way to stretch out the legs and get some kms in. Although frustrating because when I actually wanted to run, I couldn't.
Early Saturday morning, I dropped Marcus at golf and walked and trained it back. It was a good 6km walk and a great way to start the weekend.
Now that I have the all clear and I am not dying, I am looking forward to running and strength training again!
