Picture this, we are sitting on a plane and I am feeling less than excited about continuing through a book that I lost interest in many many months ago and Marcus finds a surprise in his seat pocket! Turns out it was the latest thriller from Patricia Cornwell - Bone Bed!
I don't usually read thrillers because I travel alone and find myself waking in the middle of the night just reading Harry Potter. This time I was traveling with my lovely protector, so I felt more confident reading a scary book. Although I didn't even find that I got very scared with this book, so anyone who usually steers clear of thrillers this could be the book for you.
I enjoyed the main character, Dr Kay Scarpetta, but I found it difficult to relate to her on a personal level. She has a rocky relationship with her Husband that seems to develop throughout the other books so maybe if I had read the previous books I would understand it a little more but there wasn't enough information for me in this small snapshot. Then again, I wasn't reading it to get the personal insight now was I? I was reading it for the criminal insights and thrilling nature. It kept me absolutely mesmerised for 4 days. Not because I then lost interest, it was because I had finished it by then! I can't remember the last time I read a book that quickly.
Not only was it nice to be so enthralled by a book, but I also found myself loving the physical book. I so often read on my Kindle these days it was nice to be able to read from sitting down on the plane until I got up to get off. Not that my Kindle is going anywhere but it was just nice for a change.
Anyone have any non-scary type thrillers for me to read?
