So, I think I have found myself a hobby! Sewing!
I tried out a friend's sewing machine a few months ago in order to see whether or not I could get into this sewing thing. I really enjoyed it. So, when Spotlight had a 30% off everything sale, I popped down there and picked myself up a $110 sewing machine - bargain.
For all you sewers out there, this is what I bought in my 'starter kit';
- Sewing Machine (the cheapest full size one in the store)
- 3 types of scissors; embroidery, sewing and dressmaking
- 10 pack of all purpose thread
- Kwik Sew patter for reusable shopping bags
- pin cushion
- cotton flat fats x 5
- colour headed pins
- dress-making pins
- machine needles
All for $163.90! Unbelievable! Is there anything else you would recommend? I am signing up for the nearest sewing course I can find just as soon as one is on offer but in the meantime I think that is sufficient.
There are so many amazing tutorials out there for sewing, I couldnt help but give some of them a try! Although first up I will be trying the pattern I bought to get me started. However, when I do get my feet a little, I would love to attempt some of these ones:
This Sewing Machine Caddy by Joy at How Joyful
These felt flower pins that actually don't even need a sewing machine!
This Tote or skirt from Sew Mama Sew!
Any tutorials that you love, or some great sewing bloggers that I should add to my google reader?
